Renta’s digital backbone, built through years of deliberate investment, covers our whole operating landscape. We operate a diverse fleet complemented by specialist divisions; the vast majority of our larger fleet runs on CAN bus enabled telematics, with handhelds and Tags covering everything else. We have digitalized all the aspects of our operations through our own R&D capabilities, enhanced by trusted partners such as TrackUnit and Hilti. At Renta, digitalization is no longer a strategic initiative; it is the operating system. And AI is the next layer we are rolling out across it.
Everything ran on paper; rental contracts, delivery notes, return inspections, and service records were all generated locally and stored locally on each depot.
When customers wanted to know what they still have on active rental, they had two options: 1) call the local representative and wait for him to manually go through each contract. 2) wait for the next invoice and see what is he getting invoiced for.
Meanwhile, depots spent time chasing customers about missing returns. On-site Service work reporting was done from memory or later written up on paper, if at all.
There was no telematics in the fleet, so we had no real picture of how machines were performing, where they were, or whether anything was about to fail. Pump projects were managed through spreadsheets and phone calls.
Phone and email were the primary channels between actors, which meant the vast majority of information either arrived late, never arrived at all, or was simply forgotten.
The result was a set of process islands; each function did its job, but none of them shared a real-time picture of the operation.
Everything is digital, and the actors are connected. Customers see in real time what they have on rent, what their costs are, and how much they are actually using each machine; they get recommendations on what to return and what to add.

On our side, we receive their requests as soon as they are raised, and all field service work is completed through Renta Task, with the customer seeing the result as soon as the job is complete.
Fleet operations such as return inspections, services, and repairs are managed through Renta Tools, which covers the full machine life cycle.
Practically the entire large fleet now carries CAN bus enabled telematics, so we see live performance data and any faults the moment they appear; the small fleet carries Bluetooth tags that give us location and utilization.
Pumping operations run on the same CAN bus telematics with project management through Renta Flow, so we see how each pump is performing across every active site.

Renta Connect enables Renta’s growth and the implementation of digitalisation.
Through Connect, customer data and orders flow seamlessly from rental systems into Easy. Equipment maintenance events are transferred bi-directionally between Tools and rental systems, while real-time business performance data flows from finance and rental systems into BI tools. Work orders created in Easy flow into Task, and completed jobs are reported back to the customer in real time — along with billable work, rental equipment, and sales articles flowing into the rental systems.
